_____________________________________________

This winter has actually been quite a great whirl wind for me and my art. I have had a few pet portraits and some commissioned custom watercolors as well. My Aceos on Ebay have been a lot of fun and tend to sell quickly. I have painted and sold over 160 aceo original watercolors (2.5 x 3.5 in.). I enjoy painting the aceos because they are fun, fairly quick to paint and I have had the pleasure of mailing them all over the world and sharing them with so many people!!! Also, last November I sold 4 framed original watercolors in a private charity auction in Bellevue, Wa.! I started my Artist page on Facebook, as well this winter, and am currently up to 275 fans. It has been a wonderful way to share and converse in real time with those who are interested in my work and enjoy getting the real time updates.

I recently updated my NEW works to my website and my print site as well. I am also currently working on some new postcards, business cards and marketing materials as well as some new exciting marketing ideas and plans!

Now, I am going to get back to updating my blog regularly. I love to paint, but am not as excited about the writing that goes along with being an artist. :) I do love to share what I am doing as an artist and why I feel compelled to paint a specific piece or place! So if you would like updates, work in progress watercolors and more of why I paint ....... stay tuned to my blog update!!

Over 30 of my watercolors are now available as prints in many different sizes and start at just $18.50! You may also choose matts and frames and have your painting completely framed and shipped to your home for a lot less that you would pay to have a local framer custom frame it. See all my prints HERE!

A post from My Facebook Page

I was talking with a friend today on FB, and she asked me if people criticized my paintings when I first started painting. She said she was not quite brave enough to publically post her work yet. This got me thinking..... and I wanted to share what I told her in hopes it may encourage others.

No matter what you create, what craft or gift you have, if you enjoy it.... Share it!!!

I think 99% of people in the world today love to see other's gifts and talents and feel uplifted by them.

I am fortunate to have people around me who are very encouraging and like I told my friend, if they don't like a painting I do, they mostly just keep it to themselves. I have learned over the last few years that it is important for me to share my art because I enjoy making it so much. Now that doesn't mean I don't get the artist rejection, because I get my fair share! I have had paintings not accepted in shows and competitions, which was hard to take at first. I also have people who will tell me if the don't like something I painted. With all of this, I have learned; 1. you can't please everyone, no matter what, everyone has different opinions or preferences and 2. you take that "advise" and if it is a valid point- use it, if it is an irrational point- let it go! For example, I got the honor last year to volunteer at a show I had a couple paintings in and actually got to listen to people walk by and talk about the paintings, including mine. This was the first time that this was fun for me. I got to listen to the "silly comments and critiques" and some more serious critiques that were repeated by a few people, those I took to heart, learning from and hopefully am fixing in my paintings.

Just remember- If you love what you do- don't be afraid to share it with the world!

Too much talent is wasted away shoved in drawers, singing in showers or stuck in the mind afraid to be written down! Go for it! We want to see your gifts!

"Gods gift to us is the ability to create! What we create is our gift to God!"
